Marlin Cook

Marlin Roger Cook, age 84, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born in Monroe, Wisconsin on November 14, 1931. He was a loving father of 6, grandfather of 10, and great grandfather of 12. He was preceded in death by his son Jimmy and great grandson Seth. He is survived by his daughters Kathy, Debbie, Sherry, Mary, and his son Mike; his grandchildren Chris, Ed, Michael, Justin, Jackie, Krystin, Shane, Steven, Crystal and Jasmine; and his great grandchildren Tiffany, Chellcie, Kylee, Kolbee, Audra, Joshua, Sidney, Kaylee, Emma, Riley and Ella. He had two nieces, Nancy and Mary Jo, and his nephew Dennis.Roger (as he was known to friends) spent most of his work career as a Florida General Contractor and retired as the Building Official of the City of Ft. Pierce, Florida in 1997. He received his private pilot’s license at the age of 76, but his passion was boating and sailing. He was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL. He will be deeply missed by his family and remembered as a kind and gentle man who had many friends.There will be a memorial mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2330 SE Mariposa Avenue, Port St. Lucie on Saturday, July 30th at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest at a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Franklin, North Carolina at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 9th. Flowers may be sent to Macon Funeral Home for the graveside service, 261 Iotla Street, Franklin, NC. (828) 524-5540. Donations can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County at www.hpbc.com.
