Clyde Spears

Clyde Clayton Spears, 90 of Franklin, died Sunday July, 24, 2016 after a period of declining health. A native of Ceredo, WV he was the son of the late William R. Spears and Emma L. Hart Spears. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur, Lawrence, Raymond, Donald, Harold and one sister, Eva Burks. Clyde loved golf and was a member of Truth United Pentecostal Church in Franklin. Mr. Spears was a WWII and Vietnam veteran and a retired Major in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by two children, Stephen Spears and Laura Spears, both of Rockville, Md.; special caregiver of 10 years, Patricia Ellet of Franklin, NC; four grandchildren, Evangeline, Augustus, Atalanta and Anastasia; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, August 6th at Truth United Pentecostal Church in Franklin. Pastor Cory Beebe will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
