Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Dowdle, 72, of Franklin, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Plenny Dowdle and Launa Norris Dowdle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Reeves Dowdle who died April 1, 2016 and seven brothers, Carl Dowdle (Iris), Jim Dowdle (Janet), Clarence Dowdle, Ralph Dowdle (Nannette) and Ray Dowdle, Shirley Dowdle and Earl Dowdle and one sister, Betty Holland (Kenneth). Charlie enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his family. He was an avid racing fan and member of Windy Gap Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Michelle Dowdle of Franklin; six sisters, Bonnie Kelley (Bob) of Newport, NC, Nell Goforth (Ray) of Hendersonville, Louise Williamson (Bill), Marie Brabson (Bobby), Pauline Stiwinter (Morris) all of Franklin and Carolyn Chastain (Roy) Of Dillard, GA; sisters-in law, Janice Dowdle, Betty Dowdle, Virginia Dowdle and Joyce Dowdle; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. Steve and Debbie Reeves and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Reverends Steve Reeves, Mark Bishop, Jason Smith and Carson Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 8th at Macon Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Castle, Kenny Chastain, Jamie Chastain, Michael Chastain, Roy Chastain and Daniel Brabson. Brothers-in law, Bob Kelley, Ray Goforth, Bill Williamson, Bobby Brabson, Morris Stiwinter and Roy Chastain and members of the Windy Gap Baptist Church Senior Adults Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
