Amy Elizabeth Bauknight, 51, of Highlands, went to be with the Lord, August 4, 2016 after a short illness. Amy will continue sharing her special gifts in her heavenly home. She was born on July 25, 1965 in Lancaster, Ohio. A "Sunshine Girl", she brought joy and a different meaning of life to those she touched through Highlands School and our community and to all who loved her at Annandale Village in Suwanee, GA. Our precious Amy will remain an angel among us. She was an artist, loved needlework, basketball, miniature golf, bowling, walking on the beach. She was a Charter Member of Mountain Laurel Tennis Club, where she practiced with the Highlands Swim team. Among her many Special Olympic medals was the Gold Medal for the Softball Toss in NC and the Gold Medal in freestyle swimming in GA. Amy is survived by her parents John Edward Bauknight III and Susan Stetler Bauknight; brother John Edward Bauknight IV and wife Laura, children Ellis and Chappell; brother Mark Stetler Bauknight and wife Stacey, children Macon and Walker; Aunts Jody Bauknight and Sara Stetler Taylor; Uncle Clarence Bauknight and wife Harriet, Uncle Benjamin Stetler. A celebration of Amy's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Highlands. Rev. Emily Wilmarth will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc, The Eckerd Living Center, or a charity of your choice. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
