Rev. Ray Aiken Brevard, North Carolina Obituary

Rev. Ray Aiken

Brevard NC Rev. Ray E. Aiken, age 81, of Brevard N.C. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening September 4th while surrounded by his family at home. He was born March 17,1935 to the late Richmond Pierce Aiken and Rozella Meece Aiken. He was a native of Transylvania County where he had spent his entire life. Ray and his wife gave their hearts to the Lord on August 24, 1963. At this time in his life he was providing for his family thru the Masonry trade, and also spent many hours volunteering his skills to help with mission projects across the country and abroad. He preached the gospel of our Lord for over 38 years, pastoring churches for much of that time, including Rosman Baptist Tabernacle, Zirconia Missionary Baptist Church, and Midway Bible Baptist Church, where he still attended. He was instrumental in leading many souls to Christ, and one of his greatest joys was being a mentor to those that had surrendered to preach under his ministry. He was known by many for being the voice of his daily radio broadcast "Take Five" heard on WGCR radio. He was also the recipient of an honorary Doctors degree presented to him from Anchor Baptist Bible College where he taught classes for several years. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Beulah Aiken, Osa Whitmire and Myrtle Owens. Also 3 brothers, Leo Aiken, Arthur Aiken and Howard Aiken. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life and helpmate for 58 years, Dorothy Jean Aiken, his daughters; Delayne Shipman, Rhonda Huggins, Raychelle Aiken and their spouses, his sons; Rev. Allen Aiken , Phillip Aiken, Jimmy Aiken, and their spouses, 19 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, whom he adored along with Mike Rogers and his family whom he loved as his own, A Sister; Dorene Byers along with 3 brothers; Earl, Paul and Donald Aiken and several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 7, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Midway Bible Baptist Church in Brevard N.C. The family will receive friends immediately following the Service. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday September 8, 2016 at the Old Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
