Charles Ray Houser, 77, of Asheville, NC died October 5, 2016. Charles was born June 29, 1939 in Rutherford County to the late Thurman F. and Helen B. Houser. He retired from the Federal Highway Dept. and worked as a Civil Engineer for 36 years. Charles enjoyed traveling, making simple projects more difficult, and spending time with his daughter, Jennifer. He was known for his sense of humor and analytical approach to everything along with his obsessive-compulsive nature. His friends and family loved and will miss all of Charles’ character traits. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Houser; and brothers, Jerry Houser and Robert L. Houser. Charles is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Houser of Albany, GA; son, Mark Houser (wife, Dee Houser) of Tucker, GA; sister, Kathy H. Littlejohn of Asheville, NC; and brother, John E. Houser of Asheville, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or any organization supporting individuals with special needs.
