Edward J Latisevs Obituary

Edward J. Latisevs, 74, of White Plains died peacefully on June 24, 2016. He was born June 10, 1942 in Latvia to the late Eleanora Latisevs. Eddy was married to Mary Curtin on June 9, 1973 at St. Paul’s church in Hartsdale, NY. He was a self-employed Tree Surgeon for fifty years, known well in the White Plains community where he opened House & Gardens. He enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, feeding birds, climbing trees, and playing the lotto. Eddy would often be seen walking around the neighborhood, greeting everyone with a smile and a wave. He was a good, kind man. Eddy was quiet and a good listener. When he did speak, he made people laugh. Eddy was a hard-working man that would do anything to make his family happy.

Eddy is survived by his loving wife Mary B. Latisevs of White Plains, NY, and his four children, Jennifer Latisevs of San Francisco, CA, Yvette Landa of Virginia Beach, VA, Kim Warburton, and Mark Latisevs both of the U.K. He is also survived by his sister Bonnie Soria of Norwalk, CT along with his seven grandchildren, Eleanora Landa of Virginia Beach, VA, Charlotte, Harry, Jack, and Angus Warburton, and Cullum and Stefan Latisevs, all of the U.K.

“My dad never throws away bread. If bread goes stale, if it's left over pizza crust, or the Entenmann's plain donuts that no one likes, he keeps it in a bag to feed the birds. He will go to the school/park across the street, toss the breads and they come a-flyin’. If it's snowy and too cold out for the birds, he has said ‘That's all right because when the snow melts, it will soften the bread and it is easier for them to eat.’

When we head down to Atlantic City, he will pack the bread bag in his suitcase and feed it to the alley cats under the boardwalk. The cats typically just sniff at it and walk away [low carb diet cats, I guess]. Eventually the seagulls come and feast.

I know a tiny part of my dad's reason for doing this is hoping that a bird will poop on him, which he considers lucky, so he will win the lotto. But mostly he does it ‘cause he has a big heart.”
