Katherine M. Buczek Obituary

Katherine M. Buczek, 78, of Floyd was greeted by angels on the evening of September 7, 2016, in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side. She was born January 1, 1938, in Rome, a daughter of the late Allen E. and Julia Snyder Ringrose. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1955. Katherine met the love of her life, John Frank Buczek, and married on June 2, 1956 at the Church of the Transfiguration in Rome. She worked at Griffiss AFB for a period of time and then as a wonderful mother and homemaker. Katherine loved her family very much and family meant everything. She loved doing crossword puzzles and riding around the farm in the Kubota with her beloved husband, John. She and John loved to dance the Polka and were members of the United Polka League. Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John; sons, John and Kim Buczek of Vernon, and Richard and Carol Buczek of Floyd; a daughter, Marcia and Brian McCabe of Floyd; and grandchildren, Richard (Nicole) Buczek, Michael Buczek, Kaylee (John) Destito, Michelle Buczek, and Jonathan McCabe; and many nieces, nephews, brothers in law, and sisters in law. She was predeceased by two children, James and Christina. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Richard Cherney and his staff, the nursing staff at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, the wonderful staff at Rome Hospital, and the doctors and nursing staff on 2 North and the 3rd floor rehabilitation department. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 AM and the Church of the Transfiguration with Father Robert Kelly officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 AM at the Church of the Transfiguration prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care. Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Please offer online condolences at: www.BarryFuneralHome.com.
