Deborah C. Getman

Deborah C. Getman was born August 29, 1950, and her journey in her physical body ended on September 21, 2016. She was born the daughter of the late Dorothy and Clarence Parmelee, Jr. She grew up in Penn Yan, NY, attended SUNY Geneseo and was an elementary school teacher in Vernon and Sherrill. Deb loved her family and friends with her whole being and leaves a legacy of thoughtfulness, courage, strength and hope. Deb is survived by her daughter Sara, son in law, Peter, and granddaughter, Lilly; her sister, Sheila Nelson, brother in law, Dan, and their son, Nathaniel; her brother, Nigel Parmelee, sister in law, Amy, and their children, Jameson and Andy; and many more treasured extended family members and wonderful friends. All who loved her are invited to celebrate and remember her life. There will be a memorial service at the Lakeview Restaurant at the Oneida Community Golf Course, on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10:30 AM. A service was previously held at the Second Milo Baptist Church in Penn Yan, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherrill-Kenwood Library, Second Milo Baptist Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford, NY.
