Mr. Ralph E. Marbut, Sr., 83, of Peasleeville Road, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at his home. He was born in Purdy, Missouri on December 3, 1924, son of Hurshell and Blanche (Baker) Marbut.
Ralph was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, he was wounded in action in the European Theater. He worked on various construction projects, including Plattsburgh Air Force Base and Interstate 87, the Northway. Ralph was a member of the Laborers Local #186 in Plattsburgh. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening, anything outdoors and lately he was an avid BINGO player.
Ralph is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Tina Marbut of Peasleeville, nine children, Ralph E. Marbut Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Plattsburgh, Paul Marbut and his wife, Carole of Plattsburgh, Gary Marbut and his companion, Maggie of Schuyler Falls, Robert Marbut and his wife, Gina of Plattsburgh, Ronald Marbut of Plattsburgh, Mary Cappello and her husband, Joseph of West Chazy, James Marbut and his companion, Eileen of Mooers, Carol Dumas and her husband, Gary of Schuyler Falls, Joan Chmiel and her husband, Michael of Peru, six brothers, Allan Marbut and his wife, Sherry of California, Royal Marbut and his wife, Erma of New Mexico, Joseph Marbut and his wife, Leona of Kansas, Ted Marbut of Kansas, Frederick Marbut of Missouri, a sister, Juanita Edwards of Arizona, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was pre-deceased by his parents, four brothers, and a grandson, Philip Wattie.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM from Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Reamer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru.
