Walter J. Harrington, born January, 24, 1918 passed away Saturday, September 3rd, 2016, he was 98. He was the son of Walter Harrington and Marie McLaughlin. A lifelong Nyack resident, 82nd Airborne Division World War II Veteran (Purple Heart recipient), VFW Post 9215 Officer , American Legion Post 310 Member, and former Orange and Rockland employee . Walter is predeceased by his wife Betty and leaves behind his daughter Gail, her husband Rod and his son Richard. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren (Matthew, Dawn, Daniel, Amy and Richard, Jr.), 10 great grandchildren (Skylar, Julianna, Brayden, Lexi, Alexandra, Katherine, Daniel, Trevor, Lila and Cadence). Visiting will be held on Thursday from 3PM to 7 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. The Willis Polhemus Post 9215 will hold a service at the funeral home at 6:30PM Thursday evening. A funeral service will take place at 10 AM on Friday morning at the funeral home.
