Norma Christian

Norma Christian passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2016 with her family by her side. Norma was born to Samuel and Ethel Rubin on September 6th, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY. She was pre-deceased by her son, Howard S. Christian III, husband, Howard “Buddy” Christian; sister, Della Albert; and nephew, Jon L. Albert. Norma graduated from James Madison High School at the top of her class and became a stenographer for a law firm in NYC. After she and Buddy were married she moved to South Nyack. Norma went on to own two ladies’ clothing stores, The Lillian Shop; one in Nyack and one in Pearl River. She did the buying, the window dressing, fashion shows and if need be alterations. After the Nanuet Mall arrived Norma sold her shops and became a real estate broker working with Freda Buchanan Real Estate and later joining Lydecker Realty where she worked until her retirement. Norma is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Christian and Donna Lavill (Raymond), two granddaughters, Jill Schwarz (Mark) and Lynette Marks (John), four great grandchildren, Taylor and Christian Schwarz and Kayla and Amanda Marks; along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to United Hospice of Rockland. Visitation will be Friday, September 30th from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at the Hannemann Funeral Home located in Nyack. There will be a short service on Saturday, October 1st at 9:30am held at the Hannemann Funeral Home followed by a burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
