George Copeland

George Copeland Jr. of Spring Valley, NY entered into rest on Saturday October 15, 2016. George was born on July 12, 1933 to the late George Copeland Sr. and Dora Grant in Barnwell,South Carolina. George resided in Utica for many years. He was employed by Friedrich Air Conditioning Supplies before retiring to Spring Valley, NY. George was active in the Army Military from 1951- 1954. After completing a four year term he enlisted in the reserves and became a drill team Sergeant for the next 30 years. George was also employed at the Rockland County Psych Center until he retired. George was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He believed in the Lord and made sure his children attended Sunday school. George loved to sing in his church choir and look forward to being in attendance at his church services George had a huge smile and an embracing laugh. He was soft spoken which had many wondering how he became a drill Sergeant! George Copeland Jr. will be greatly missed. George leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Orange, sister Shirley (Utica, NY), brother Roger (Utica, NY), daughter Rowena Hazel (Albany, NY) sons; Aaron (Winston Salem, NC), Ronald(Lorna)(Egg Harbor, NY), George Eugene (Atlanta, GA) Ramon (Terry) (Schenectady, NY), 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his sons; Jeffory, Christopher and Darius.
