Ella Walker

Ella Rivera- Walker passed away peacefully in her home on September 19th, 2016 in Spring Valley, NY at the age of 84. Ella, born Mabel Ella-Kate Crenshaw moved to New York from her hometown of Montgomery, Alabama in her mid thirties, where she later met and married Zebulon Paul Walker in the fall of 1992. Ella enjoyed being a teacher at the West Street Day Care Center for some years. However she retired from the East Ramapo Central School District where she worked for the last 15 years. Ella was very family oriented and she was the matriarch of her family. She tried to always govern her life in peace and allowed her witty personality to shine bright even in her final moments. She was preceded in death by her late husband Zebulon Paul Walker. Ella is survived by her children Brenda (Jerry) Gaddis, Linda Tyson, Beverly Crenshaw- Johnson, Larry (Brenda) Rivera, Lorenzo (Beatrice) Rivera ; Brother Willie Crenshaw and sister Minnie "Sarah" Parker; 23 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews. A home going service will be held at St. Paul's AME Zion Church in Spring Valley, NY on Monday September 26th. The wake will be from 10am-12pm and the funeral will follow at 12pm. Ella will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at the Rockland County Veterans Cemetery on Brick Church Road in Spring Valley, NY.
