Effie Lee Brown (1927-2016) Effie L. Brown was born March 24,1927 to the late Lucille and Jonas Dawson, one of ten children in Corona, Alabama. Effie passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her home in Nyack, NY. Effie worked as a Staff Attendant at Rockland Psychiatric Center for 25 years. She retired in 1982. Effie was an extraordinary person who loved life, her sons, grandchildren, her car, “her stories" and anything red. She was a devoted member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Nyack. Effie leaves behind two sons, O. Leon Williams and Claudeo Davis; a stepson John S. Brown, Jr.; five granddaughters, Nicole “Nikki” Friday, Aline Davis, Monica Williams-Gill, Leona Williams and Shanise Williams; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, John Dawson. Effie, our beloved, will truly be missed. She was predeceased by her husband, John S. Brown Sr.; two sisters, Julia Mae and Dorothy; and six brothers, George, James, Julius, Richard, Joseph and Jake. The Wake will be held on Sunday, October 30th 6-9pm and Funeral services on Monday, October 31st at 10am at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 80 N. Franklin street, Nyack, NY.
