Bruce Delfini Obituary

Bruce Theodoric Delfini April 1, 1951~September 16,2016 R.I.P Bruce T. Delfini, husband of Sharon Delfini passed away late Friday night at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York. Bruce was 65 years old. He is survived by his devoted loving wife Sharon Delfini, 4 daughters, Heather, Meredith, Erika and Kaitlin, and 5 grandchildren. He will be missed not only by his family, but also by all of the lives he touched as a professor, colleague, comrade and friend. Bruce Delfini was a full time professor of both History and Social Science at Rockland Community College. He further advanced his career at Rockland Community College becoming the chair of the Social Science Department, at the same time being a one time President of his Union, and later Chair of the grievance committee. His passion and beliefs for justice, labor rights and love of knowledge never wavered, he used his knowledge for the greater good and to fight for what was right throughout his entire life. Anyone who knew him as a professor either by being a student or a colleague could attest to his vast learning and the fact that he wore this learning at the same time with great humility. In addition, he spent time teaching courses at Dominican College and at St.Thomas Aquinas. Bruce will be buried to rest at the Germonds Presbyterian Cemetery in New City, in between his father Leonidas Delfini and mother Zena Delfini. The family is planning to have a celebration to honor his life and memory in the next month. Bruce Delfini was loved by all of those he met especially by his family. He will be missed everyday, we will keep his memory alive in our hearts. RIP Dad, we will always love you. Family is requesting that you make a charitable contribution to the organizations Bruce devoted so much time and effort to. His love for animals and history showed in his many monthly donations. Please donate to your local animal shelter; Hi-Tor Animal Care Center located at 65 Firemens Memorial Drive, Pomona, NY 10970; they can be reached at 845-354-7900. He would also have liked to see donations go to the World Wild Life Fund.
