CHARLOTTE L. WARD

NORFOLK – Charlotte L. Ward, 74, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home and formerly of Norfolk, peacefully passed away Octobert 19, 2016 at Massena Memorial Hospital.

Charlotte was born August 7, 1942 in Massena, the daughter of the late Carl W. and Aletha Fetterly Benedict and graduated from Massena High School. On September 23, 1961, she married Wendall B. Ward in Massena with Rev. Robert Taylor. Wendall predeceased her on August 20, 2002.

Charlotte was a homemaker, who enjoyed playing bingo, watching wrestling, and going to garage sales. When she entered the nursing home, she was active on several committees.

Surviving Charlotte are her children, Jerry and Kellie Ward of Massena; Mary and Roger Conte of Norfolk; Vicki and Michael Derouchia of Raymondville; and Wendall Ward Jr. and Kathi Kerr, of Norfolk; her grandchildren, Emily, Austin, Macy, Burton, Ben, Nathan, Mark and Preston; and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda and Bernard Lanning of Norfolk, her brother, Keith and Maureen Benedict of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Charlotte was predeceased by a great grandson, Nathan Thrana; and her siblings, Wanita Guyette, Patricia Brothers, Karen McComber, Kevin Benedict, Wendall Fetterly, and Nelson Benedict.

Friends may call Saturday 6-9:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A memorial service will be held privately at the Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
