Allan J. Gorrow

<p>AKWESASNE – Mr. Allan J. Gorrow, 83, of 1621 State Highway 37, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, June 25, 2016 at his home.</p><p><br></p><p>Allan was born October 25, 1932 in Bombay, the son of the late Albert and Iva McClatchie Gorrow. He attended Mohawk School as well as Bombay and Massena High Schools. A marriage to Yvonne Jock ended in divorce. He later married Grace Diabo Albany; she predeceased him on August 26, 2001. </p><p><br></p><p>Allan was an ironworker with Local #440 for many years, taking him as far west as Ohio for work. As an ironworker, his most notable job was working on the turbines under Niagara Falls. He and his late wife also owned and operated Grace and Allen’s Tobacco, which he was still operating. He was a communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus in Fort Covington. Allan truly enjoyed cutting wood, watching western movies, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time playing with all his heavy equipment “toys”; </p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his children from his marriage to Yvonne, Allan Gorrow, Jr and his companion, Pam Baird of Boughton, IL; Michelle and Sidney Jones of Schaghticoke, NY; Lorrie Wells of Castle Rock, CO; David Gorrow of Akwesasne; Dale and Heidi Gorrow of Clearwater, FL; Jonathan Gorrow and his companion, Natasha Eldridge of Malone; twins, Robert and Nancy Gorrow of Atlanta, GA and Roberta and Val Kalbfliesh of Melrose, NY. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Glenda Diabo (Arbor) and Carlene LeHache (Johnny), all of Kanawake; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Martha and Donald Lauzon of North Tonowanda; his brother, Marshall and Brenda Gorrow of Akwesasne; his sister-in-laws, Shirley Gorrow of Akwesasne; Dorothy Tarbell of Nedro, NY; Yvonne Gorrow of Fort Covington; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Rambo.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents and his wife, Allan was predeceased by a son, Mark A. Gorrow on August 11, 1986; three brothers, Carl and Warren Gorrow and Albert Tarbell; and a son-in-law, Ray Wells on May 19, 2016.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Monday 4-7 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-9 PM. He will be transferred to this home on Wednesday, where friends may call from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 2:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Regis Catholic Church.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
