At the age of about sixteen or seventeen Byron joined his brother Norris at an institution name “Cobbla” situated in May-Pen, Clarendon which was run by the local authorities to create and encourage primarily boys of that age to learn a variety of trades of their choice which includes: masonry, mechanic, carpenter, Cabinet-building among others. Two year later Byron graduated from the said institution, he later consolidates with his brother Norris in Kingston where he acquired a job with a local bank as a clerk.
