Leroy Coleman, Jr. (Butch), was born September 27, 1947 in Jamaica Queens, New York to the late Leroy Coleman and Dorothy Turner-Coleman. As a young man he was educated in New York City Public Schools and was an avid ping pong player participating in many competitions. Butch served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and worked as a typewriter repairman before joining the New York Department of Sanitation, where he worked until retiring in 2004. In 1966 Butch met Cherry Jones. From that union two children were born, Kevin in 1971 and Nakia in 1976. In 1982 he married Rita Lane and her four children. He quickly became an intricate part of the Lane family and especially enjoyed visiting Rita’s hometown, Ahoskie, North Carolina and became good friends with her siblings there. During his 20 years at The Dept. of Sanitation Brooklyn North 4, Butch made many lifetime friends including Lenny, Randy, Danny, Blowe, Russell, Rodriguez, Mike “Abdul Salaam” Body, Langford and many others. He was affectionately known as “Hammer I Am” and “Slice”. Butch loved fishing trips with his neighbor Charlie. He enjoyed old westerns, Sanford and Son and The Honeymooners. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and loved ribbing his family and neighbors who are Dallas Cowboy fans. He collected Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley Memorabilia along with rare coins. He was a loving, husband, father, brother and proud grandfather. He loved his family and kept in touch with his children, grandmother, aunts and nieces on a regular basis. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Rita Coleman, Grandmother Rose Coleman, Sister Linda Fisher (Daniel), Aunts Mary Corley and Mary Kelso, Sons Kevin Jones, Timothy Lane (Helen) and Anthony Lane Sr., Daughters Nakia Jones and Tandrea Lane, Grandchildren Sadeeq, Nadiyah, Tariq, Laila, Tiffany, Anthony Jr., Brandon, Jaquille, Tanasia, Tamese, Ebony, O.J., Tyrone, Great-Grandchildren, Preston, Drequan, Devonte, Essence, Matthew, Jayden and Malia, Special Nieces Shantelle Hobson and Keisha Coleman, Best friends Lenny, Randy and Danny along with a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents Leroy and Dorothy Coleman, Brother Lenny and daughter Tanisha. When I die look for me in the people I have known and love. And if you cannot live without me, then let me live on in your eyes, your mind and your acts of kindness. You can love me most by loving one another and letting go of those things that are not of love. Love does not die, people do. So when all that is left of me is LOVE..GIVE ME AWAY! THE FAMILY
