Robert Morton Patterson

PATTERSON, Robert M.  of Horseheads, NY passed away after a brief illness on Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2016 at the age of 90. Bob was born on February 4, 1926 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Morton and Julia Dobberstein Patterson. Bob served his country honorably in the US Navy during World War II, where he learned the electrician trade.  He worked for over 40 years and taught many young apprentices his craft. Bob was a proud member of IBEW Local 139 for 69 years and also worked as a stagehand well into his retirement.  He was a life member of the Sayre Elks, VFW, the Loyal Order of the Moose and a charter member of the Lifetimer’s club. Bob was blessed with 53 years of marriage to his beloved Maggie.  He was happiest when with his family, especially on the shores of Keuka Lake.  He loved a good euchre game, a cold brew, fishing and his many grandchildren.  “Chuck”, as he was affectionately known, was loved by all.  His quick wit was unmatched and was with him to the end.  He will truly be missed by all those whose lives he touched throughout his ninety year journey. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Marguerite E. Lutomski Patterson and sisters, Katherine Jane Steele and Joyce Burns.He is survived by his children, Joseph R. (Anne Marie) Cesare of Noblesville, IN, Michol. A. Cesare of Cockeysville, MD, Barbara J. (David) Root of Horseheads,  NY, Denny Patterson (Wallace McCloud) of Santa Ana, CA, Scott R. (Victoria) Patterson of Horseheads, NY, Jeffrey M. (Kimberly) Patterson of Elmira, NY and Lee (Barry) Linc He huck of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, JoAnne Jackson, Michael (Rebecca) Cesare,  Jeffrey (Tracy) Cesare, Kendall (Ryan) Wheeler,  Erin (Ronald) Furstoss, Zachary and Nichole Patterson, Benjamin and Nathan Linchuck, Quinn and Michol McCloud, Grace and Gabriel Patterson; great grandchildren, Camden and Sydney Cesare, Alec, Jake and Ryan Cesare, Jonathan Wheeler and Marguerite Furstoss; sister-in-law, Elmira Lutomski of Elmira, NY and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4PM-7PM.  Bob’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 12 noon at St. Mary Our Mother, Horseheads, NY.   He will be laid to rest in St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery alongside his beloved wife immediately following. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Drs. Brian Cassetta and Robert Douenias and the medical staff of Guthrie and CareFirst for their wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Bob may make donations to a charity of one’s choice.
