Roger Allen Hack Obituary

LAGRANGEVILLE - Roger Allen Hack, 64, a lifelong area resident, died on July 30, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Poughkeepsie on March 30, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Doris Beverly (Gregory) Hack. Roger was a 1971 graduate of John Jay High School. He had been employed by Velux Corporation for over 15 years until his illness forced him to retire in 2012. On September 12, 1992 at home, Roger married Janice Traynor-Hack who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Jessica Hack, who graduated this past May from the University of Vermont; his brother, Gregory Hack and his wife Lynne of New Jersey; his mother-in-law, Shirley Traynor of Florida; his aunt, Elizabeth Hennesey of Hyde Park; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Roger was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, and gardening. Roger was given a second chance at life over four years ago when he became the recipient of a donation of lungs. The family of Roger urges everyone to consider registering to be an organ donor, which is a chartable act that costs nothing. Please visit www.donatelifeny.org for more information. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10-11 am at the Hopewell Reformed Church, 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 11 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to the New York Presbyterian Hospital ‘s lung transplant program (www.lungtransplantproject.org) or the Neighbors’ Gun Club, PO Box 460, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
