Rita Bogdan

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Rita Bogdan, 73, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2016 after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Rita was born on August 11, 1942 at Mount Vernon Hospital to the late Anton E. and Rita Trovato. She was a homemaker in the early years of her children’s lives and later had a long career in banking until her retirement in 2006 from M&T Bank. Rita was an avid bowler who enjoyed the sport. She was the treasurer for the Fishkill Rec Bowling League for many years. Her most treasured hobby was crocheting and taking her crafts to many local craft fairs. After her retirement, Rita joined the Board of Elections and the Independence Belles, a local veterans’ volunteer support group. A parishioner of St. Denis Church, she was also a member of the Loving Hands Group at the church, and the Knit & Knosh Group at the East Fishkill Community Library. On April 20, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon, Rita married Walter V. Bogdan Sr. who predeceased her on February 19, 2013. She is survived by her children, Walter V. Bogdan Jr. (Lisa Holland) of Glen Allen, VA, Genevieve Bogdan (Steven Bowdler) of Poughkeepsie, and Stephanie Bogdan-Drummond (Wyeth Drummond) of LaGrangeville; her grandchildren, Palmer Matthew and Sage Elizabeth Bogdan; her brother, Anthony E. Trovato (Sherrill Trovato); her sister-in-law, Barbara Bogdan; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Memorial donations may be made to Castle Point VAMC.
