Raymond Scivolette Obituary

Raymond Vincent Scivolette, 82, a lifelong area resident, died on August 26, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his daughters by his side. Born in Poughkeepsie on November 8, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Stefana (Sara) Scivolette. Ray graduated from Poughkeepsie High School before serving in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a recipient of many medals including Korean Service, Good Conduct, United Nations Service, and National Defense Service. Ray had been employed by IBM in Poughkeepsie for over 30 years until his retirement in the 1990’s. On February 28, 1976 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, Ray married JoAnn E. Miutz Scivolette who predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by his daughters, RaeAnn Tompkins and her husband Bill of Poughkeepsie and Christine Scivolette and her fiancé Martin Groomes of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Olivia and Liam Tompkins; his brother, George Scivolette and his wife Jane of Poughkeepsie; his sister-in-law, Veronica “Dorothy” Scivolette; his sister-in-law, Carol Cartman and her husband Frank; his sister-in-law, Anita Miutz; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. Ray will be missed by all, especially his daughters and grandchildren with whom he loved spending time. In addition to his wife and parents, Ray was also predeceased by his siblings, Agnes Rajczi and her husband Ernest, Frank Vecchio, Rose Amedeo and her husband Pasquale, Joseph Scivolette, Anthony “Scappy” Scivolette and his wife Mary, and Anna Pampinella and her husband Joseph; and his nephew, Michael Amedeo. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Burial will follow at St. Denis Cemetery with military honors. Ray lived at the Vassar Warner Home in Poughkeepsie for the past 3 years. The family would like to thank the staff for their care and compassion that they gave Ray during his residency there.
