Michael McLendon

WAPPINGERS FALLS - Michael McLendon, 61, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on August 22, 2016 with his family by his side. Born in Suffern on January 23, 1955, he was the son of John McLendon and Adelaide McLendon. His mom survives in Eau Claire, WI. Mike was raised in Stony Point, and attended North Rockland Schools. Mike worked for the railroad for 37 years. First he worked for Conrail in 1976 and then Metro North from 1983 until his retirement in January 2013. Mike loved life and was always there to help others in any way he could. He loved hunting, fishing, Nascar racing, and playing cards. Most of all, he loved being with his family and friends. On October 6, 1979, he married Donna Blumenfeld McLendon who survives in Wappingers Falls. Mike and Donna moved to Hopewell Junction in 1983, where they raised their two wonderful children who he was very proud of: daughter Lindsay McLendon of Wappingers Falls, and son Shaun and his wife Kim McLendon of Poughquag. Mike loved his latest title of ‘Pop” to his 16 month old grandson, John McLendon, and his unborn grandchild, due in December. Mike is also survived by his brother, Robert (Joann) McLendon of Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Theresa (Frank) Ozimek and Patricia (Tom) Lee of Eau Claire, WI; his father-in-law, Donald Blumenfeld, of Waretown, NJ; his brothers-in-law, Michael (Betty) Blumenfeld of Bardonia, Tom Blumenfeld of Fort Pierce, FL, Jim (Jeanine) Blumenfeld of Nanuet, and Robert Blumenfeld of New City; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved family dogs, J.D and Madison. In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Bernadette Blumenfeld in 2011. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 11:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
