Kenneth Green Obituary

Kenneth R. Green, 95, an area resident since 1963 and formerly of Indiana, died on September 1, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Greensburg, IN on August 15, 1921, he was the son of John William and Kathryn Hargitt Green. He proudly served our country as a First Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. He started his career at IBM in Chicago. He retired as a Senior Service Planner for IBM in Poughkeepsie after a 35 year career. Kenneth was a member of the Fishkill United Methodist Church and the IBM Quarter Century Club, and a former member of the Chelsea Yacht Club. He was a talented woodcrafter who made his own furniture including a grandfather clock. He also built a sailboat, and worked with stained glass. On July 20, 1946 in Decatur County, Indiana, Kenneth married Mary Ruth Davis who predeceased him on March 15, 2008. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Virginia and Daniel Marciano of Greenwich, CT and Marilyn and Richard O’Brien of Wappingers Falls; his sons, Kerry William Green of Poughkeepsie and Wesley John Green of Hyde Park; his grandchildren, Lance Marciano, Whitney Marciano, Brett Green, Heather Finelli, Kara Koehler, Robbie O’Brien, Katie Dunstan and Courtney Britton; 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Lewis Green. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 10am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be at 12pm with Rev. Linda Willey officiating. Entombment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery with military honors.
