Herbert Cade, Jr. Obituary

Herbert “Herb” “Sam” Cade Jr., 57, of Hopewell Junction, died on July 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones and friends. Born in Rhinebeck on September 10, 1958 and raised in Millerton, he was the son of Herbert S. Cade Sr. and Barbara Waldron Cade. Herb worked as a custodian for the Arlington School District, a mechanic for the Town of Union Vale and as a groundskeeper and maintenance worker for the Wappingers Central School District until his retirement. Herb was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. He was involved with the Grange throughout his life, as a member of the Stanfordville and Mount Hope Granges. His true love of horses was seen in his affiliations with the Mid Hudson Driving Association, Hudson Valley Draft Horse Association and Southern Dutchess Horse and Pony Association. Herb is survived by the faithful mule, Max; the devoted horses, Moritz, Sam and Savannah; his soulmate, Susan Greinacher, Susan’s daughters Heidi and Andy Layden, their 2 sons, and Krista Lane and her partner Marc; his parents, Herbert and Barbara Cade; his sister, Linda Baker; his daughter, Jennifer Cade; his nephews and their families, Bruce and Corrine Webster and their four children, Steven and Nicole Webster and their daughter; his sister-in-law, Debbie Cade and her daughter; and many other aunts, uncles and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Cade. His big teddy-bear attitude, made him loved by all, animals too. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone. His favorite pastimes were anything horse related, followed by fixing anything on his collection of various motors for himself and his friends and cooking. Herb fought bravely throughout his entire illness and never gave up! We would like to thank all his loved ones: family, neighbors, friends and coworkers, who made themselves always available to support “Herbie" “Sam”. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 10 am – 12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a service at 12pm. Memorial donations may be made in Herb’s memory to the Hospice Foundation, Inc. Please visit Herb’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
