John J. Devine

John Joseph Devine “Jack” died peacefully on November 29, 2015 at the age of 87.<br>John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene (nee Torkelsen) and his three children, Kathleen Zino (Bill), JoAnn Devine (Joe DeMarco), and John Devine (Julie). He leaves behind a wonderful legacy in his grandchildren, Matthew Zino, Lisa Kesting, Kelly Zino, Brendan Devine, Dan Devine, and Erin Devine. His parents and a sister, Barbara, precede him in death. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. <br>John was a Korean War Veteran and is retired from the Nassau County Police Department where he served as a police officer for 23 years in the Fifth Precinct. He was a parishioner of St. Raphaels’s Church for nearly 60 years.<br>John loved to travel. Each summer, the family went camping in Maine and there were trips with his wife to Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska and Bermuda and visiting friends in North Carolina, Florida, and New Mexico. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.<br>Services for John will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home located at 455 East Meadow Avenue in East Meadow NY from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10 am at St. Raphaels’s Roman Catholic Church located at 600 Newbridge Road, East Meadow, NY.<br>
