Joan A. Hughes, of Hughes Rd., Arcade died June 8, 2016 at her residence at the age of 79. She was born April 8, 1937 in Cherry Creek, NY a daughter of the late Roy and Harriet (Welton) Eaton. She was a member of the Arcade United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and bowling in her younger years. She was a CNA for 23 years at the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home, now know as the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Machias. She also had her cosmetology license and was a hairdresser in Arcade. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hughes who she married May 19, 1956 in Orchard Park; her daughters: Karen (Marc) Immerman of Elmira and Kathy (Les) Agan of Ontario, NY; her sister-in-law: Pat Eaton of North Carolina; also survived by three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Marge (Elmer) Wittenrich and Donald Eaton. Memorials may be made to the Arcade United Methodist Church, 212 E. Main St., Arcade, NY 14009.
