Edith C. Norton, formerly of Yorkshire, NY died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Machias at the age of 99. She was born February 5, 1917 in Arcade, NY a daughter of the late George Francis and Mary Alice (Savage) Redden. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church in Arcade where she also served as an Eucharistic minister and a lector. She was also a member of the SS Peter & Paul's Guild, the Emmaus Ultraye, the Ladies of Charity Society, and the Java Center Senior Citizens in Strykersville. She was a LPN at the Cattaraugus County Home in Machias at the age of 57. She had also drove school bus for Jerry Roberts and for Pioneer. She was also a clerk at the Acme store in Arcade. Her husband, Donald Roy Norton Sr. who she married October 14, 1939 in Java Center, passed away in 1969. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth "Betty" (Jim) Dildine of Williamson, NY, Donald Roy (Karen) Norton Jr. of Florida, Mary (Ron) Petrell of Florida, Joan (late Richard) Harrison of Florida, Deborah (Jim) McGarvey of Arcade, and Melissa (Mike) Pauly of Yorkshire; her brother: Edward (Marie) Redden of Strykersville; her sister-in-law: Donna Redden of Arcade; also survived by 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter - Carol Ann Norton; her siblings: Paul, George and Vincent Redden. Friends may call Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4-7 PM at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at Noon at St. Mary's Church in Arcade. Rev. Joseph Gullo will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delevan Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 218, Delevan, NY 14042 or to the Arcade Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 303, Arcade, NY 14009.
