Ruth J. Damphier, 87, of New Castle, PA; passed away Monday April 4, 2016 at Overlook Nursing Home in New Wilmington, PA. Born in Macon, GA; on February 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Alma Green Marshall. Ruth was a member of Life Lawrence County and enjoyed making crafts, playing bingo and listening to music. Her husband Bruce W. Damphier predeceased her on March 8, 2015. She was also predeceased by her son, Bruce Damphier Jr and several brothers and sisters. Ruth is survived by five children, Phil Carter of Loxahatchee, FL; Michael Carter and his wife Sue of Big Bear, CA, Tammy Damphier Murphy and her husband Gary of New Castle, PA; Duane Damphier of Ithaca, NY and Darin Damphier and his wife, Jessica of Wells, NY. Nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday April 30, 2016 at 12 noon at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with Pastor Bonnie Orth officiating. A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 11:00 to noon.
