Richard Fenton

Fenton Sr., Richard, 85, of Absecon died peacefully in his home on September 11, 2016 surrounded by family. Richard graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jane, in 1951. Continuing his family’s proud tradition of service in both World Wars, he served in the United States Navy and was a Korean War veteran. Richard retired from the New Jersey Bell Phone Company, and he was a past president of Absecon Methodist Men and a former leader of Absecon Boy Scout Troop 43. He loved the outdoors and spent time boating and fishing all over the East Coast. He was a great storyteller and loved to entertain his family with his colorful tales. Richard is predeceased by his parents and three siblings, Beatrice, Jean, and Harvey. He is survived by his loving wife, Barabra Jane; sons, Richard Jr. (Janice), Robert (Theresa), and Ron (Brenda), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A viewing will be from 10 to 11am on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Rd, in Northfield. A service will be at 11am. Burial will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AtlantiCare Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232 Arrangements entrusted to and condolences for the family may be left at Adams-Perfect.com
