Ronald F. Burke, Sr., retired Director of Middlesex County Child Support Enforcement Division and Ocean Township family man, 81, died at home on Friday, July 8, 2016 surrounded by the love of his devoted wife. Ronald was born in Elizabeth, NJ and was raised in Carteret, NJ and later moved to Ocean Township in 1970 where he and his wife, Anita raised their family. He also resided in Wall Twp. During the Korean War, he served aboard the USS Turner and was proud to be a Tin Can Sailor. After completing his naval service, Ron attended Rider University, graduating in 1960. In 1976 he completed a Master's Degree at Seton Hall University. He worked for the Middlesex County Probation Department for 36 years and retired in 1992. He was the founder and president of the New Jersey Probation Officers Family Division Association. He was recognized by President Gerald Ford for his work on child support reform. Ron's hobbies included gardening, opera, traveling, watching the Yankees, and collecting antiques. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Anita (Lepis) Burke; daughter Laura Berger and her husband Adam; son Thomas and his wife Fran; son Ronald, Jr., and his wife Ping; six much loved grandchildren: Allison, Mark, Thomas, Alexandra, Emma, and Brendan; and his dear sisters Mary Lou Rozanski and her husband Adam and Margaret Bouselli and her husband Matthew. Relatives and friends are invited for visiting hours from 4-8 pm on Monday, July 11 at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. Funeral Tuesday, 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at the Church of St Anselm, 1028 Wayside Road in Tinton Falls. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Interfaith Neighbors of Asbury Park, 810 Fourth Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712.
