Peter R. DeSantis, 83 of Long Branch died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. He was born in Long Branch but lived many places before returning to Monmouth County. Peter was the co-owner of Great Garlic Foods Inc. in Bradley Beach. After retiring, he opened Philly’s Famous Cheesesteaks in Atlantic Highlands, satisfying his lifelong love of cooking. He served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosario and Erminia DeSantis. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl DeSantis; 2 step daughters, Melinda Graham and Debra Davis; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Barbara DeSantis and Russell and Susan DeSantis; 2 sisters, Tina DeSantis and Mary DeSantis; and 2 step grandchildren, Madison Davis and Peighton Davis and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 30 from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:30 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch.
