Antonietta Capilupi Obituary

Antonietta Capilupi, 83, of Eatontown, NJ passed away suddenly at Care One at King James in Atlantic Highlands on October 12, 2016. Antonietta was born in San Pietro Apostolo, located within the province of Calabria in southern Italy. She emigrated to America with her husband, Benito, in 1967 after they were married in Italy in 1966. They originally settled in the Long Branch area prior to moving to Eatontown. Antonietta proudly and quickly became an American citizen proceeding to continue her teaching career, which she began in Italy after her undergraduate and postgraduate university studies. Antonietta served as a school teacher for nearly 25 years in the Long Branch, Eatontown, and Red Bank school systems as well as at Monmouth Regional High School. She always put her family first and her genuine kindness among family, friends, and students was very evident to all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Her hobbies and interests included cooking, gardening, going to the beach, and spending quality time with friends and family. She was also known as a fighter that battled many health challenges over the years overcoming the odds on multiple occasions. Antonietta was predeceased by her parents, Nicola and Maria Sacco (Italy); her sisters Gina Boccolone and Felicia Gigliotti (Italy) and her brothers Paul Sacco of Long Branch and Domenico Sacco of Ocala, FL. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Benito Capilupi; her son and daughter-in-law, Savino and Theresa Capilupi; her 5 year old grandson Anthony Capilupi whom she absolutely adored; her sisters, Angelina Sacco (Italy) and Rosa Mazza of Long Branch, and her brother, Aldo Sacco formerly of Tinton Falls. Antonietta is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews across the U.S. and in her native Italy. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15th at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch from 10:00am to 12:00pm immediately followed by services commencing at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch.
