Donald W. Lewis, 85, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the Golden Living Care Center in Doylestown, PA.

Born in New Hope, PA, Donnie was a lifelong resident of Lambertville. He was employed for over 40 years by the Acme Supermarket. As a member of the Lewis family of the Lewis Fishery in Lambertville, Donnie helped continue a family ritual established in 1888 of traditional Shad netting on the Delaware River. Donnie was a familiar face to city residents. He often rode his bicycle in town or pushed a shopping cart as he ran errands or did the shopping for many residents. Donnie was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lambertville.

He was the brother of the late Frank “Jim” Lewis. He is survived by his nieces Karen Williams and her husband Gary of Lambertville and Patricia Proscia of Levittown, PA; his great niece Tanya Schwartz and her husband Nik of Levittown and his great-nephews Zachary Heinemann of Milford, NJ and Kyle Heinemann of Trenton, NJ; his cousins Muriel L. Meserve of Lambertville and Susan Garczynski and her husband Joseph of Trout Run, PA and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, at 11 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow at the Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.

There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 am until the start of services.
