Aside from being an wonderful father and husband, Pat was a mountaineer, diver, fisherman and an adventurer. Climbing Boundary Peak in Nevada, Mt. Shasta in California and Mt. Pat was also an avid skier, swimmer, former marathon runner, former rugby player (inside and outside three-quarter back) for the University of Colorado RFC and the St. Louis Bombers RFC; hunter; is a lifetime member of the Northern Nevada Handball Association; Former Board President of the Reno YMCA; and is knowledgeable in the history and culture of Nevada. Pat received his A.B. from the University of Notre Dame in 1966 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1969. Pat was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Nevada based in Las Vegas, trying cases and handling the Government’s business in Las Vegas, Reno, and throughout the State and District of Nevada from 1970 to 1971. Pat was the first Nevadan appointed to serve as a special attorney in the Organized Crime and Racketeering section of the United States Department of Justice and was assigned to the St. Louis (MO) Strike Force, where he served from 1971 to 1973. He prosecuted cases in the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois. Pat was the 1986-87 President of the Nevada Trial Lawyer Association (now the Nevada Justice Association), directed the Association’s lobbying activities during the 1987 session of the Nevada State Legislature, and served on the Board of Governors of the Nevada Justice Association and its PAC, Citizens For Justice. He acted as a lobbyist in the Nevada Legislature. He previously served on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice. In addition to all of this, Pat became a Certified Fraud Examiner at the age of 70. Anyone that knew Pat Cashill knew that he was his own unique person. The love of his family was always #1. His love of life always shined through. When he saw you from afar, he didn't just say hi, he embraced you and engaged with you. He could work a room with the best of them. Nothing would ever stop him pursuing his dreams and goals. He lived life tot the max. His friends and family have lost a true and special gift. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright St., Reno. Private burial will be held at Mt. View Cemetery.
