On August 24, 2016, Daniel Jay Gopen passed away. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and known local businessman in the Reno/Sparks area for the last nine years. He was involved with the Reno Bike Project, and Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program. Daniel was born August 21, 1964 in California, and raised in Brookline, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Barbara Gopen of Brookline, MA. He is survived by his wife Lisa Samuelson Gopen, daughter, Alysa and husband Evan Dixon, sons, Nicholas, Damien, and Daniel Jay Gopen, Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Beth Gopen of Torrington, CT, and brothers, Jared & Jason Wilson and their families of California. Visitation will be at Walton Sierra Chapel on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 5-8 pm. A graveside funeral service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Friday, September 2, 2016 at 11am. There will be a gathering at the family’s home in Sparks after the funeral. The address is 1495 Serendipity Ct., Sparks, NV.
