Anita Wagner passed away on April 10, 2016 after a nearly four year fight with cancer. She was born on February 15, 1935 in Reno, Nevada to Justo and Dolores Munoz. Anita was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and was happiest when surrounded by her family. Anita loved camping, the outdoors, and will always be remembered leading campfire songs with a flaming stick. One of her favorite places was “camping” at Tahoe Timber Trails where she could watch the wildlife and feed the birds. Anita was passionate about wildlife and was Treasurer of the Nevada Wildlife Federation for many years. She was also the inspiration for numerous family trips all over the west, Hawaii, and Spain where we could camp, snorkel and fly kites at the ocean. Some of the most memorable were the family ski vacations to Utah and Idaho. Anita and Ed also enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Wagon Wheelers for many years. She grew up in Reno and graduated from Reno High School in 1952. Anita went to UNR, was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Education. Anita and Ed Wagner were married August 26, 1956. She taught elementary school, both as a full time teacher and a substitute. She specialized in Special Education and substituted at Marvin Piccollo School for many years. She is survived by her loving husband of over 59 years, Ed, and their daughter Rebecca (Lesley), sons; Mitch (Laurie), Matt (Michelle), and granddaughters, Alyssa, and Breanna. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rita and brother, Paul. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to, Renown Health Foundation, Joanne Gould Fund 1300 Mill Street, Reno, NV. 89502 or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Walton’s Funeral Home Sierra Chapel 875 W. Second Street, Reno, NV on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
