Clarence Goldo Steinhauser was born on December 7, 1926 and passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was born in Butte, Nebraska to G.H. (Guido Henry) Steinhauser and Bonita Arlene (Chaney) Steinhauser. He graduated from Butte High School in 1944. While awaiting his call after enlisting in the Navy, he taught school in Sutherland, NE., then worked at a forestry station near Canoga Park, California.
His service to his country occurred in the later part of World War II when he was assigned to the office of Records Administration working with and typing “discharge papers”. He was stationed in St. Louis, Missouri, then Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon his discharge, he taught at the country school on the Moody Ranch near Crawford, Ne., where he also broke horses as a ranch hand.
He married Dorothy Ruth Johnson of Spencer, NE. in 1948 of which 6 children were born. In the early years raising his family he ranched and farmed in the Naper and Butte areas of northern Nebraska. He moved his young family to West Point, NE. in 1956 to work for Beatrice Foods Company servicing West Point and surrounding areas as the Meadow Gold milkman. He was later the proprietor and operator of both the Falls City and West Point, NE. bowling alleys from 1969 to 1972 and 1972 to 1985 respectively.
Steinie or Clancy as he was so lovingly called by many family and friends had a great love of horses and enjoyed working with them through-out the years. He was an avid sports fan always ready to cheer on the Nebraska Cornhuskers or almost any NFL team. For many years he shared his love of hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Being devoted to his religion, he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. His cheerful and encouraging ways have left many memories for his loved ones. One of his favorite sayings was “any job worth doing is worth doing well”.
He leaves in mourning his family; Dorothy Steinhauser of Mesa, AZ., Chuck Steinhauser of AR., Cindy (Don) Kauk of Alma, Tom Steinhauser of Belle Fourche, SD., Lavonne Eberhardt of Apopka, FL., Dennis (Roberta) Steinhauser of Davey and Nancy (Brad) Schutte of West Tawakoni, TX., brothers Earl (Marvie) Steinhauser and Harold Steinhauser of Norfolk, Bob (Peggy) Steinhauser of Weeping Water and Craig (Donna) Steinhauser of Lincoln, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
