Life Story for Nyla Cain

Nyla (Prewett) Cain, was born October 8, 1914 in Pulaski County, Missouri to the late Floyd and Hazel Prewett.

On March 5, 1932, Nyla was united in marriage to Everett Cain. They farmed in Pulaski, Phelps, and Dent Counties for many years.

Nyla passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009 in Joliet, Illinois at the age of 94 years.

Nyla will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her loving and devoted son: Edward Cain of Joliet, IL; six grandchildren: Nancy Gregory and her husband Ed of Mt. Vernon, IL, Gail Stevens and her husband Mark, Don Cain and his wife, Julie, all of Joliet, IL, Glenn Cain and his wife Kim of Bourbonnais, IL, Lisa Byrne and her husband Jim of North Aurora, IL and Paul Cain of Joliet, IL; eight great-grandchildren: Bryan and Brad Bubulka, Andrew Stevens, Katelyn Cain, Benjamin Cain and Patrick, David and Matthew Byrne; three sisters: Georgia Salter of Medford, OR, Dorothy Duncan of Crocker, MO and Florence Vaughan of Waynesville, MO; one sister-in-law: Velma Stockstill of Springfield, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Nyla was preceded in death by her husband, Everett (1977); infant son, Wayne; sister: Opal Whorton; four brothers: Claude “Jack”, Warren, John and James Prewett; and in-laws: Beulah Kelly, Norma Brenner, Emmett Cain, Virgie Allen and Judy Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery in Dixon, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 P.M. Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions in memory of Nyla Cain to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 and may be left at Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
