Earl Eugene “Gene” Lawson of Cadet, Missouri was born on January 3, 1941 in Furnace Creek, Missouri a son of the late, Gurlean (Bowles) Lawson and the late, Earl Lawson. Gene departed this life on October 19, 2016 at the Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-five years, nine months and sixteen days. Gene was united in marriage to Doris Osia on June 30, 1967 in Farmington, Missouri and this union was blessed with two children, Alicia and Eric. Gene is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Doris Lawson of Cadet, Missouri; one daughter, Dr. Alicia Tolar and husband, Shawn of Cadet, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jordan, Lindsay Paige and Shawn Jr.; four brothers, Floyd Lawson and wife, Sharon of Potosi, Missouri; Lloyd Lawson and wife, Connie of Potosi, Missouri; Terry Lawson and wife, Patti of Potosi, Missouri; Daniel Lawson of Mineral Point, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Eric Lawson, daughter, Lena Lawson, stepfather, Raymond Robinson, stepsister, Carolyn Mallow and stepbrother, Charles Robinson. Gene was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on his farm taking care of the cattle and making hay. He had a passion for antique cars always taking time to enjoy their beauty. Gene served his community on the Kingston School Board for forty-two years and was a retire of General Motors. His greatest love was his family, he always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren who he loved with all of his heart. Gene also enjoyed visiting with his friends. Gene was a very kind and passionate person who will be remembered for always having a smile on his face. Visitation was held Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, October 24, 2016 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated Monday, October 24, 2016 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Tony Dattilo officiating. Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Shawn Tolar, Terry Lawson, Steve Lawson, Zach Thornton, Rodney Coleman, John Partney and honorary pallbearers, Dwayne West, Dave Warden, Mike Guenther and Jordan Tolar. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Kingston Athletics at 10047 Diamond Rd., Cadet, MO 63630. Moore Funeral Homes was honored to have been selected to serve Gene, his family and friends.
