Roy R. Deonier, 94, of Webb City, MO (formerly of Sarcoxie, MO) went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 3, 2016. He was born June 21, 1921 to John Franklin and Armedia Elizabeth Samples Deonier in Sarcoxie, MO. He entered the United States Army, May 21st, 1942. Served in World War II. He was a Field Lineman 641 and Annie Aircraft from May 1942 to October 1945. He hit the Omaha Beach the second day of the invasion with the 1st Army. He transferred to 3rd Army and went all the way to Berlin. He received a Good Conduct Medal, American Service Ribbon, Fame Service Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars. He married Rose Mary Avery on, September 21st, 1947, in Columbus, KS. They lived on Center Creek near Reeds, MO and had a Grade A Dairy Farm. They attended Dudman Church where he served as a Deacon for several years. He went to work for the Missouri State Highway Department, continued farming and raising cows. Moved into Sarcoxie, MO in 1974 and later into Webb City, MO in 1996 until his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Eva Sanders, Jack Deonier, John F. Deonier, Herman Deonier, Marie Young, Ruth Clarence, Clarence Deonier, Adolph Deonier, Ernest Deonier, Joe Deonier, twins Hank Deonier and Lula Webb. Survived by his wife Rose Deonier and their four children; Linda Sills, husband Marvin of Baxter Springs, KS, Robert Deonier and wife Sylvia of Goddard, KS, Connie Sullenger of Webb City, MO and Mary Marsh of Carl Junction, MO and nine grandchildren; Kristie Goade, Lode Bartholomew, Robin Fajardo, Stacie Brane, Mark Deonier, Jonas Bartholomew, Chanda Cherry, Chad Marsh, and Ricky Sullenger and 12 great grandchildren. He taught his family to work hard, that things in life weren’t free. He taught many of his kids and grandkids to farm, garden, mow yards, ride bikes, drive cars, fishing and camping. He enjoyed watching baseball, listening to old country and gospel music, reading books, riding his tractor, celebrating life with parties and sitting outside watching animals and nature. He absolutely loved spending time with his family and invested in them. He served his country and his family with pride! He will forever be missed! Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will be in Dudman Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
