James "Jim" J. Williams, 67 of Independence, Mo passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at NorthCare Hospice following a brief illness. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Wed., July 13, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10 am followed by interment with Full Military Honors at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's name to NorthCare Hospice, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, 2nd Floor, North Kansas City, MO 64116. Jim was born August 17, 1948 in Kansas City, MO and was a 1966 graduate of Westport High School. He was a Seaman in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974 serving in Vietnam. He worked for Armco Steel in Kansas City, MO for 14 years and retired from the United States Postal Service in Blue Springs, MO where he worked for 25 years. Jim was a jokester, he loved to laugh and never met a stranger. He loved his family, his friends, golfing and his Kansas City Royals. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ruth F. Williams and Leonard J. Williams. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda Sue Williams;. daughters: Shelley Davis and husband Kevin and Stacy Williams; two grandchildren Austin and Emalee; brother Rick Williams and wife Ginny, Rocky Mount, MO; sisters Carol Soule and husband Jay, Bella Vista, AR; Ruth Ann Thompson and husband Roy, Lee’s Summit, MO as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
