Cornelia (Connie) A. Katowitz, 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all was peacefully called to her eternal resting place on August 28, 2016. She entered this world on July 31, 1936 in Independence, MO, born to Chester and Vaughny Burnham. On June 3, 1956, she married Harry Katowitz, who preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by daughter Michele Malik; grandson Yacob Malik; granddaughter Sofia Malik; brother Daniel Arthur Burnham, sister-in-law Dorothy Burnham, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends who considered her family. Cornelia was a graduate of William Chrisman High School, and completed 2 years of business school. She and Harry were owners of Katco Rubber and Supply Company, and was a member and supporter of the Truman Library. She was also a member of the Bingham-Waggoner Estate, and a member of the Eastern Star. She attended 1st United Methodist Church of Blue Springs for several years. She loved life and made everyone around her feel welcome. The family would like to especially thank her healthcare team at Saint Luke's East in Lee's Summit for their love and support as well as Centerpoint Dialysis. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 6-8pm, with funeral service on Thursday, September 1, at 2pm, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Indep., MO. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation, Stop Hunger Now, Community Services League, or Habitat for Humanity.
