Tommy Wayne Shrum, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born October 24, 1959 at Hammond, Indiana and left from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his parent’s home in Leasburg at the young age of 56 years.

Tommy joined the United States Army in 1977, right out of high school. After his service time he attended and graduated from Arkansas State College with a Fire Science Degree. He served as a fireman and Fire Chief of the French Ports Volunteer Fire Department in Camden, Arkansas. Tommy served as a member of the "Fire Protection Board in Ouachita County, Arkansas in 1993.

Tommy worked as a cable TV lineman and manager in the fiber optic department for twenty two years. He received the Industry Training Program certificate in May 1985 Installer certificate in December 1990, National Techniques for Company Office certificate in January 1991, Installer Tech certificate in December 1992, Service Tech certificate in December 1996.

On June 4, 2014 Tommy joined the staff of Meramec Instrument Transformer Company in Cuba. Tommy completed the American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA training in February of 2015.

Tommy played online games and the World of War Craft game was his favorite. He enjoyed fishing and was the St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball team most avid fan. Tommy was always helping family and friends with carpentry and electrical projects. Plus he spoiled his nieces and nephews with candy.

Tommy believed in and attended the AA meetings. He founded the "Easy Does it Group" in September of 2014 and the group was charted by the AA in October of 2014. They met at the First Presbyterian Church in Cuba and Tommy truly believed his mission in life was to help others.

Tommy was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tommy is preceded in death by his sister Diana Lynne Schroyer and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving parents Carol and Bob Williams of Leasburg, children Stephanie P. and husband Justin Reid of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Emily N. Hicks of Sheridan, Arkansas, step daughter Sarah Womack of Hot Springs, Arkansas, seven siblings Julia Shrum of Cuba, Missouri, Karen Caskey of Leasburg, Blake Williams of Leasburg, Shonna Williams of Leasburg, Mark and wife Amanda Williams of Phoenix, Arizona, Leslie and Jared Caldwell of Missouri and Amanda and husband Lee Flowers of Cuba, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri. Special recorded music will be “Why Me Lord”.

Honored to serve as pall bearers will be Robert Morse, Jacob Voss, George Mehas, Mark Williams, Justin Reid and Lee Flowers. Honorary pall bears will be Tim Bailey and Jeff Bouse.

Interment and prayers will follow at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
