D. Lyle Davis 1919-2016 Cameron, Missouri- David “Lyle” Davis, 97, Cameron, passed away on August 27, 2016. Lyle was born on February 10, 1919 in Soldier, Iowa to David Chester and Floris (Struble) Davis. They preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Soldier High School and Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa. Lyle was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 2755th Combat Eng. during World War II for 4 years and was overseas for 3 years. He was a member of the Kidder American Legion Post #40. Lyle married DeLora Outhouse on December 22, 1945 in Moorhead, Iowa. They had four children, Edward, Robert, Ione and DeAnn. They farmed near Pisgah, Iowa, Soldier, Iowa, Kidder, MO and Cameron, MO. He was baptized and confirmed in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lyle served as an Elder in his church and sang many solo’s for church services, weddings and funerals. Survivors: wife of 70 years, DeLora Davis; 2 sons, Ed Davis and wife, Elaine, Kingston, MO, Robert Davis and wife, Susan, Cameron, MO; 2 daughters, Ione Stowell and husband, Doug, Tulsa, OK and DeAnn Nieman, Blue Springs, MO; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. No scheduled visitation. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron, MO. Memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis.
