Travis Usry of Lake, MS, passed away on Tuesday September 20, 2016 after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be conducted by Wolf Funeral Services of Lake, MS, with a visitation on Thursday September 22, 2016 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, followed by a Graveside Service on Friday September 23, 2016 at 10:00AM at the High Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, south of Lake, MS. Brother Harold Laird will officiate and special music will be provided by Brother Thomas Laird. Travis was best known as the owner of the Back 40 Seafood Restaurant, one of the first seafood buffets in Mississippi, which has remained in business for 30 plus years. He helped establish many seafood buffet restaurants in Mississippi as well as surrounding states in his early restaurant years. He loved interacting with people and most always had a joke ready to tell. He could always be found at his table greeting customers. Travis is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Nancy Lott Usry; his daughter, Tina Usry Mabry and husband, David Mabry; his son, Kent Usry and wife Kaye Giles Usry; his grandchildren, Kris Usry and wife, Missy Sorey Usry; and Kristie Usry Callahan and husband, Davidson Callahan; and his great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter, and Callie Jane Callahan and Ben Usry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Alfred Usry and Clara Fay Durr Usry; brother, Dillard Usry; and his sister in law, Eleanor “Sally” Usry. Pallbearers are David Joe Usry, Austin Usry, Joe Usry, Billy Durr, Eric Townsend, and Tom Geter. Honorary Pallbearers are Abner Usry, Ray Durr, Robert Wilkerson, Jimmy Guyse, and Weems Gilbert.
