Suzanne Coats

Suzanne Shuttleworth Coats passed away May 2, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Carthage, Ms. She was born Feb. 2, 1933 to Claude Roby and Eula Craig Shuttleworth in Homewood, Ms. and was a resident of Forest, Ms. for many years. She was a graduate of Forest High School and Hinds Community College. She was very talented and was known for her beautiful voice. She led a full life with careers in hospitality, music and nursing. She left a legacy of the love of family history and music to her family. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of forty years, Woodard H. Coats III, parents and brothers; Bill, Bob, and Claude Shuttleworth, and granddaughter, Suzanne Spence. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Marsha Bickford of Madison, Betsy (Dale) Smith of Brandon, and Leslie (Joe) Cooper of New Orleans. She was the proud grandmother to Br. Craig Spence, SDB, Patrick (Robin) Spence, Maggie Spence, Ryan (Amanda) Garrett, Nathan Sharp, Suzi (Matt) Seal, George Pool, and Doyle Cooper. Her great grandchildren, Maddie- Claire Spence, Hannah, Mattie, and Zack Garret and Emma Grace Seal were very special to her. Also, Lynne (Bob) Shuttleworth, sister in law and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held May 28, at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Madison. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 with Br. Gordon Sansing officiating. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton is handling the arrangements. We wish to thank the staff at Golden Living in Carthage, especially the north nursing station for the kindness and compassion they showed Mama and our family during her short stay there. Also our many friends that supported us through her illness.
