Chief of Police Glenda Shoemaker, age 64, passed away on Tuesday April 26, 2016 at her home in Pelahatchie, MS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2016 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Thursday April 28, 2016 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 28, 2016 at 2:00PM at the Pelahatchie Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Burial will follow in the Leesburg Church of Christ Cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Walters. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Shoemaker, formerly of Pickens, MS, had lived in Pelahatchie, MS for the past forty-five years. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Glenda had served as Chief of Police at the Pelahatchie Police Department for the past seventeen years and had been in law enforcement for the past thirty-nine years. She was past worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She previously served as the President of the Pelahatchie Lions Club which she actually founded. She was a participant of C.E.R.T and coordinated and organized events for the Senior Citizens of Pelahatchie, MS. Mrs. Shoemaker was the recipient of the 2015 Jefferson Award for Public Service in MS. Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Catherine Diamond; one daughter, Keisha Shoemaker; and one grandson, Robert Wingate. She is survived by her husband, Willie Shoemaker of Pelahatchie, MS; three daughters, Sabrina Frith and husband Greg of Morton, MS, Catherine “Cat” Poarch and husband Timothy of Pelahatchie, MS, and Brandi Till and husband Brian of Pelahatchie, MS; one son, Keith Shoemaker of Pelahatchie, MS; two sisters, Joyce Roberts of Brandon, MS and Shelia Burrell of Pickens, MS; one brother, Preston Diamond of Florence, MS; thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Tommy Johnson, Tommy Turbville, Wayne Ishee, Eddie Rhodes, Doug Till, and Brady Harrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and all members of Law Enforcement.
